Frequently Asked Questions

What services are included in assisted living?

Our care team will do a full evaluation of your family member to make sure the services we provide are tailored to their needs. These may include help with getting dressed and remembering medications, discreet toileting and incontinence help, and mealtime assistance. You can see a more comprehensive list here.

How is assisted living different from independent living or memory care?

Think of assisted living as a balance of independence and support. Independent living offers residents the support and amenities they want, while preserving their independence as much as possible. Memory support is tailored to residents with memory loss, with specially trained staff to help care for people with dementia. Learn more about memory support here.

How do you assess who qualifies for assisted living?

Our care team has a functional evaluation process that helps determine which of our services your family member needs now, which services they might need in the near future, and what their long-term needs might be.

What is “assistance” at The Atrium at Serenity Pointe?

Assistance is easily defined as the support your family member needs with daily personal care and health-related needs. That may include things like medication reminders or administration, helping get to and from the bathroom, choosing seasonally appropriate clothing, and helping with grooming and personal hygiene.

Do residents stay as independent as possible?

Yes! Our staff is committed to providing your family member with the services they need, while giving them as much independence and personal autonomy as possible. Click here to learn more about our well-being philosophy!

How does The Atrium at Serenity Pointe handle clinical assessments or changes in care?

Our care team will complete a health evaluation to develop an individualized care plan before your family member moves in, and on an ongoing basis as their needs evolve.

Are health care professionals on staff 24/7?

A licensed nurse and trained staff are on site 24/7/365 to make sure your family member is always cared for and supported. You can learn more about our safety measures here.

Can residents bring their own furniture and décor?

Yes! Our apartments are unfurnished, so residents have the freedom to bring what they like to make their apartment their own. For safety reasons, certain items like hot plates are not permitted. Want to find out if a specific item will fit in the apartment you choose? Contact us for room dimensions!

Can couples live together if only one requires assisted living?

Of course! An extraperson fee will apply to the monthly rental rate, but if the second person doesn’t require any care, there will be no additional care fees.

How do you charge for additional services?

At The Atrium at Serenity Pointe, we use a personalized approach to care costs so you only pay for the services you need. Our care team will assess your family member’s needs and create a care plan that can change as their needs change.

What happens if care needs increase beyond what The Atrium at Serenity Pointe can provide?

We share your desire to have the most appropriate care for your family member. Our team periodically assesses and evaluates each resident’s needs at a minimum of every 90 days to make sure we are providing the care they require, and we will always communicate any changes with you. If their care needs progress beyond the care we are licensed to provide, our team will work with you to discuss options and make recommendations to ensure your family member is in the optimal care environment.
